Our timber species

Beautiful

Our timbers look and feel like traditional solid hardwood timbers. Each species boasts its own characteristics, and, like any natural wood product, its own beautiful imperfections.

Safe and Recyclable

Our process does not rely on formaldehyde adhesives or other harmful chemicals.

Our timbers are crafted using natural wood and a water-based, non-toxic nano-glue (read all about it on the blog!). Our products have been tested for VOCs and are safe to use in the most sensitive indoor environments.

Durable

Our timbers have properties that match or exceed those of 100-year-old trees and are fit for a wide range of interior and exterior decorative application, furniture and select structural applications.

Sustainable

We convert low-grade material into premium hardwoods, giving underutilised wood resources a new life with unsurpassed value-add.

Crafted Hardwoods is Chain of Custody Certified under FSC and PEFC. All our raw material is sourced from forests and plantations that are well cared for and meet rigourous standards for sustainable and ethical forestry practices.

Species

All Crafted Hardwood Timbers are made using low-value resources that were destined to never see the construction market.

We upcycle these resources into a unique and incredibly versatile material.

All of our material comes from FSC® and PEFC-certified suppliers — because responsible forestry isn’t optional, it’s essential. And for full peace of mind, we can provide Chain of Custody certification upon request, so you know exactly where your timber comes from and how it got here.

  • Blackbutt Timber

    Blackbutt

    PEFC Certified available
Blackbutt (Eucalyptus pilularis) is a durable Australian native hardwood, ranging in colour from pale yellow-brown to warm golden hues, often with a clean, even grain. It is highly regarded for its strength and durability. Blackbutt is also one of the few species that naturally meets bushfire building requirements up to BAL 29, making it a trusted choice in performance-driven contexts.

  • Spotted Gum Timber

    NSW Spotted Gum

    PEFC Certified available
Spotted Gum (Corymbia maculata) is a striking Australian hardwood native to the New South Wales coast and southern Queensland. Its colouring ranges from pale browns through to rich caramels, often highlighted by distinctive tonal contrasts. Known for its exceptional hardness and strength, Spotted Gum also naturally meets bushfire building requirements up to BAL 29.

  • Tasmanian Oak Timber

    Tasmanian Oak

    PEFC Certified available
Tasmanian Oak isn’t a single species — it’s the name given to a mix of three eucalypts (Eucalyptus regnans, obliqua and delegatensis). That mix gives it a wide colour range, from pale straw through to warm reddish tones, with natural shifts and contrasts from board to board. It’s this variety that gives Tasmanian Oak its unique character and makes every project one-of-a-kind.

  • White Gum Timber

    White Gum

    FSC® Certified available
Eucalyptus dunnii, commonly known as Dunn's White Gum, is a species endemic to eastern Australia. The wood typically features light, creamy tones to pale brown hues, tinged with subtle pink or red undertones. White Gum offers reliable durability and strength while remaining workable for a variety of uses.

  • More Species this way

In addition to our core species, we have limited stock of Jarrah, Karri, Red Mahogany, Alder, Pink White Gum, Canadian Birch and Red Oak.
