What sets us apart
Anyone can say ‘sustainable’.
We’re here for something deeper.
We make premium timber from low-value logs.
At Crafted Hardwoods, sustainability isn’t a buzzword — it’s embedded in every part of our process.
Our approach isn’t just about using resources responsibly (because of course, we do that too!); it’s about pushing the boundaries of innovation to reimagine how low-value resources can be used in architecture, design and construction.
Thanks to innovation and advanced robotics, we have the ability to upcycle low-grade timber into premium hardwoods, rethinking raw material, minimising waste and maximising value at every step.
Our timber maximises the value of every log — delivering a low-carbon, toxin-free, and renewable building solution that reduces waste and lightens pressure on native forests and biodiversity.
It’s not the grade.
It’s what you do with it.
A significant portion of harvested timber is labelled low-value. Not because it lacks potential, but because it doesn't meet conventional standards. We see it differently. By rethinking these underutilised resources, we can turn them into beautiful, high-performance hardwoods—supporting a more sustainable, circular supply chain. Because the raw material is just the beginning.
Our material is:
Made by upcycling low-grade resources - making more from what others overlook.
Designed to use more of each tree - not just the best cuts.
100% recyclable - made to go around again.
VOC free & toxin-free - as it should be.
Australian-made - supporting local manufacturing.
Biomimicking nature
in one day
At the heart of this technology is a patented process using a water-based “nano glue” that biomimics the properties of wood’s natural lignin, a complex organic compound produced by trees.
This gives our timber the same structure and remarkable properties as mature trees, in a fraction of the time.

Doing more with less
Not only are we only using resources that normally wouldn’t make it to the construction industry, but our process has been designed to use as much as possible from every log
In fact, via rotary peeling, we can recover twice as much from each tree than what conventional milling does (65% vs 33%).

Our process is fast.
Really fast.
Our process is so efficient that we can produce one cubic meter of timber in less than an hour.
Our finished logs are dimensionally consistent at 2500mm x 500mm x 250mm. This allows for maximum output and endless applications. Depending on our clients needs, the billets are then cut and finished as required.

Same, same but different
Our process ensures precision, but each billet is unique, showcasing the natural beauty and character of wood.
With a selection of species and cut options to match any style, our timbers are the perfect fit for architects, builders, carpenters, and designers to specify in projects.
