The basics

ReFramed is our timber glazing framing system, designed as a genuine option to internal aluminium glazed partitions in commercial interiors. Same spec logic, same install process, different material behind the glass.

ReFramed is available in three series:
Series 90 (90 x 45mm) a slimmer profile for single glazing;
Series 105 (105 x 45mm) a deeper single-glazed profile sized to sit flush with standard wall construction;
Series 150 (150 x 45mm) for double glazing and higher acoustic requirements.

Yes, deliberately. We know cost is often the first thing that rules a new material out, so we made sure ReFramed could sit right alongside aluminium on price from day one.

Doors aren't automatically included with the framing, but they're available. ReFramed is compatible with standard solid core doors (by others), and we can also supply a matching glazed timber door if you'd prefer. Hardware isn't supplied, so that's something you'll need to organise separately, but we'll prep it for locks and closers if you need us to.
The current option is for hinged doors only, but we have a sliding door option in development. If your project needs sliding doors, get in touch and we'll keep you posted.

Installation

Your usual partitioner or glazier installs it and organises the site glazing. We supply the system, the same way you'd buy aluminium framing. If your order includes doors from us, they come supplied glazed and prepped for seals, with lock and closer prep available if you need it.

Your regular commercial partition contractor can install it. As with any new product, there are a few small differences to get used to on the first job, but nothing that needs a different trade. Contractors describe it less as a new skill to learn and more as a new material to get a feel for.
The methodology is very close to what you'd expect from an aluminium system, with the odd small variation, an engineer might ask for an extra fixing point here or there, for example. ReFramed profiles come with rebates built in for glazing, door stops and glazing beads, plus location grooves so everything lines up where it should.

Early projects took a bit longer, some of that came down to design choices on those jobs, like mitred corner joins instead of butt joins, rather than the product itself.
Since then, we've refined a few details: a grooved base that locates parts during install, and an adjusted glazing bead. Installer feedback is a direct input into how we improve the system.

Not really, no. It's a low-risk application: the movement is minimal, and coming pre-coated as standard takes another variable out of the mix. Even across our deepest profile (150mm), moisture-related movement sits at around half a millimetre.

Yes. We keep a small stock of key components, like glazing beads, on hand, so a knock or a damaged piece during install doesn't turn into a wait for a full production run.
Sustainability & compliance

We asked acoustic specialists, including CSIRO, for their take on this, and the advice was straightforward: solid timber doesn't have the hollow sections that create resonant flanking paths in aluminium framing, which is exactly what that testing regime exists to catch. With ReFramed, the glass does almost all the acoustic work, so it's the glass rating that governs performance, not the frame. Full detail is in our ReFramed Acoustic Performance Statement, here.

Yes, and they stack up well together.
Every ReFramed species is sourced from FSC® or PEFC certified forests or plantations, and we're Chain of Custody certified under both schemes. If your project needs that formal certified claim carried through, flag it when you order; it's a paperwork step we action per order, not something applied automatically to every purchase.
Our Declare Label covers the full species range and can be used as evidence of material health for Green Star Fitouts v1 submissions. Combined with certified sourcing, this puts ReFramed's Responsible Product Value in Best Practice territory under the Green Star Responsible Products Framework.
ReFramed is in scope for Credit 12 (Responsible Partitions), and can also contribute to Credit 27 (Upfront Carbon Reduction) under Green Star Fitouts v1. Full breakdowns are on the blog:

How Crafted Hardwoods Supports Green Star Fitouts →For Living Building Challenge, we can supply FSC certified timber (LBC 4.1 calls for FSC by name for the bulk of a project's wood, under Imperative 14), and our Declare Label lines up with the Materials Petal's ingredient transparency and Red List screening requirements.
For LEED, our Declare Label and FSC® + PEFC certification are both recognised documentation types under LEED v5's Materials & Resources credit.

Yes, choosing ReFramed over traditional aluminium framing makes a real difference here. NABERS Embodied Carbon rating applies to new build and partial rebuild projects, and internal glazed partitions are named directly as a required material inclusion for Office, Residential, Hospital, and Public building ratings.
